The Land Management Bureau is responsible for acquistion of land for expansion of the state forest and state park system, and disposal of land superfluous to Department needs, including surveying, the preparation of legal documents, record keeping , dispersion and reporting. Preparing up-to-date property maps and maintaining approximately 800 miles of state land boundary is a major mission of the Bureau, critical to the management of the State's natural resources. In addition, the Bureau administers the Department's agricultural leases, over 100 camp lot licenses, 134 garden plots and the dimensional stone mining permit program for the State. The Bureau is actively engaged within the Department and across state government at setting policy regarding public use state land.
